Dunk and Egg

The Dunk and Egg novellas are set over 100 years before the start of the main series, and follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire Aegon Targaryen, also known as "Egg". I love these novellas, and while that may be a factor in my decision to include this on the list, there are plenty of reasons for anyone to get excited about a potential dunk and egg show. These stories come directly from the mind who created Game of Thrones, and this is their greatest strength. These stories manage to be more lighthearted and optimistic in tone than the main series, without sacrificing any of the characteristics which make the main series great.
